Winter really is the Cool Time to Sell!

Year after year we see many sellers put off selling in Winter.  We Queenslanders really do like to hibernate in Winter, and it is the season that we see the least homes going onto the market. Interestingly though, buyers certainly do not hibernate in Winter, they are still out in force, this year more than ever!

Strong buyer demand + fewer homes to choose from = increased competition amongst buyers 

This can result in a quicker and more financially rewarding sale!

In a nutshell, now right up until Spring is a smart time to sell.  Yes, your garden may not look quite as good, but you will not have to compete with a pile of other properties’ whose owners have held off til Spring.  The reality is that there is a real advantage to selling in Winter.  If I was to sell my home (unless I had a botanical garden), that’s when I’d be doing it.

Winter is a great time for playing up your home’s cosy, family-friendly charm.  The ambiance created by a warm fireplace in Winter is undeniable.  We love the response from buyers at our open homes when we have a cosy fire blazing.  It makes them see how warm and inviting a home can be, and they stay longer!  No fireplace – no worries. You can achieve a similar affect through the use of textured cushions and lush throws, lighting candles and turning on all lamps and lighting fixtures to give your home a warm glow.  There really is nothing like stepping in from the cold into a warm, comfortable home.
